What it does

A free frequency shifter and analog echo from Valhalla DSP. Combines a delay line with a frequency shifter in the feedback path — so each repeat shifts in pitch. The result ranges from subtle chorusing at low shift amounts to completely alien, metallic, endlessly spiraling echoes at higher settings.

The frequency shifting is different from pitch shifting — it shifts all frequencies by a fixed amount in Hz rather than by a ratio, which breaks the harmonic relationships and creates inharmonic, bell-like tones. Combined with the echo feedback, you get sounds that are genuinely unique.
